A prayer to the souls once lost.
Where art becomes ritual, and creation becomes remembrance.

la puerta

Ritual Artwork

An ephemeral gate for the souls.

Three hundred handmade copper Cempasúchils were crafted one by one to form this gate.

Cempasúchil; the Mexican marigold,
also known as flor de muerto, the flower of the dead.

Believed to guide the spirits back home during Día de los Muertos, their vibrant orange petals are said to hold the warmth of the sun;
a light for those who walk between worlds.

Created for Día de los Muertos in Tulum,
La Puerta stands as a threshold;

welcoming and guiding the souls of the departed

back into our world, if only for a moment.
