from unseen heights the wind descends
carrying a language older than words.
the circles negotiate gravity,
as if returning to a forgotten agreement.
their motion composes itself.
humans call it sound.
yet this is something far more ancient.

A Kinetic Sound Sculpture
Series

El Poema Cantado is a kinetic sound sculpture series developed in the windy coastal town of Tulum, Mexico.

This sculpture explores the translation of invisible force into movement, rhythm and sound.

Driven entirely by the wind, the sculpture transforms atmosphere into choreography; allowing air, gravity and motion to become co-authors of the work.

Rather than performing a fixed composition, the piece continuously rewrites itself through environmental conditions, revealing nature not as backdrop, but as an active intelligence.

structure

in numbers

Each configuration follows a simple internal rule. The diameter of each body corresponds to its position in the sequence. The sum of the digits equals the number of elements in that version.

BODY 1 = Ø 19cm – 1+9=1

BODY 2 = Ø 38cm – 3+8=11 – 1+1=2

BODY 3 = Ø 66cm – 6+6=12 – 1+2=3

BODY 4 = Ø 94cm – 9+4=13 – 1+3=4

BODY 5 = Ø 122cm – 1+2+2=5

BODY 6 = Ø 150 cm – 1+5+0=6

BODY 7 = Ø 178 cm – 1+7+8=16 – 1+6=7

BODY 8 = Ø 206 cm – 2+0+6=8

The numerical logic is not decorative; it informs proportion, balance and internal coherence. The sculpture balances because its proportions are internally aligned.

State of Becoming

weathered steel editions

In its State of Becoming editions,

the sculpture is realized in weathered steel.

Rather than being polished or concealed, the material is left to oxidize and reveal its own character over time.

What appears as change is not degradation, but completion.

PRELUDE Ø94 cm, Body of 4; Edition of 5 +1AP

VERSE Ø122 cm, Body of 5; Edition of 5 +1AP

CHORUS Ø150 cm, Body of 6;  Edition of 3 +1AP

CRESCENDO Ø178 cm, Body of 7; Edition of 3 +1AP

FINALE Ø206 cm, Body of  8; Edition of 2 +1AP

Edition numbers decrease with scale, reflecting the increasing spatial and structural impact of each configuration.

Each work is part of a limited edition and is issued with a signed certificate of authenticity.

early

explorations

Early configurations developed in Tulum, Mexico.

These studies trace the formation of the system, where relationships of proportion, balance and movement were tested before reaching structural coherence.

In the

studio

The work takes form through physical testing of scale, weight and balance.
